What’s the best kratom for pain relief and anxiety?

Globally, over 1 billion people deal with chronic pain. In the U.S., chronic pain is the one of the largest causes of long-term disability. It’s also said to affect more people than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), doctors write over 250 million prescriptions for pain killers each year. Although it’s not the main contributing factor, chronic pain has been linked to the Opioid epidemic currently hitting the country.

Pain and what it does to The Human Body

The feeling of pain is without a doubt at all, unpleasant. As much as we’d like to never deal with it, we will always have to live with it. Pain plays a major role as one of the body’s most important communication tools.

Pain is the body’s way of telling us something is having an issue. Without it we wouldn’t be able to protect ourselves from harm or be alerted to things like burns, especially when it’s inside of us and we cannot physically see, but we need to quickly acknowledge these issues

Pain is detected from receptors located all throughout our bodies. Pain receptors are designed to react to three different types of stimuli. This ranges from Thermal, Chemical, and Mechanical. Mechanical receptors are triggered by trauma or alterations to certain tissues, from tumors, and muscle spams, along with a blockage of  body ducts, among others. Thermal receptors can be triggered by exposure to either extreme cold or heat. Chemical receptors can be triggered by exposure to either external chemicals or by the release of internal chemicals following trauma or inflammation (serotonin, dopamine, lactic acid, etc.)

When the above receptors are triggered, a signal is sent to the brain through the spinal cord for interpretation. Once the signal comes in contact with the brain, its processed in the thalamus. This sends out three signals to respond. One signal goes to the somatosensory cortex, this is responsible for our physical sensation. Another signal is sent to the frontal cortex that’s in charge of thinking, and the third goes to limbic system which is responsible for our emotions.

Pain can be considered as either chronic or acute. Acute pain comes on all of a sudden and lasts for usually, only a brief period of time. Chronic pain can be ongoing, usually lasting longer than six months and is often the result of nerve damage. It can also tend to be resistant to most medical treatments.

There are two main types of chronic pain, those are inflammatory nociceptive pain or neuropathic pain. Inflammatory nociceptive pain is most likely the result of injury to the skin, muscles, visceral organs, joints, tendons, or bones. Neuropathic pain is caused by injury to the peripheral and somatosensory nervous system. In many cases, acute pain can develop into long term chronic pain.

Chronic pain can be highly disruptive to a person’s quality of life. It can cause anxiety, anger, depression, fatigue, frustration, diminished job performance, lower motivation, communication breakdowns with loved ones and poor self esteem among so many other things.

Opioids are the usual prescribed medicine for the treatment of severe acute and chronic pain as they are the strongest and most effective analgesics available. However, they come with a higher potential for abuse, dependence, and addiction. Especially if used over prolonged periods of time.

How does Kratom help with pain?

Kratom, also known as Mitragyna Speciosa is a tropical evergreen tree with a Southeast Asian origin, and is a close relative to the coffee plant. The leaves contain over 25 different alkaloids in addition to flavonoids, terpenoid saponins, polyphenols, and various glycosides.

This combination serves up an extremely impressive list of psychoactive ingredients, medicinal and therapeutic effects including analgesia, sedation, stimulation, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antioxidant and cognitive boosting effects depending on the vein color and the blend you decide to go with.

The main psychoactive components found in the leaves of the Kratom plant are the alkaloids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. Both of these have strong analgesic properties, although the latter only accounts for around ~2% of the plant’s alkaloid content. Even with this lower amount, it is said to be an extreme contributor towards the plants’ analgesic properties.

Kratom interacts with the mu, kappa, and delta opioid receptors and can decrease pain sensitivity. It may also increase the body’s natural release of endorphins. This helps to induce positive emotions and limit negative feelings generated through pain.

Kratom Powder can provide relief for symptoms associated with being in constant pain like fatigue, anxiety, and lack of focus. A survey that’s been conducted on Kratom users showed that they were able to find relief from pain brought on by the following conditions

  • Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD)
  • Cancer
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Migraine
  • Ehlers Danlos syndrome.
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Back pain
  • Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
  • Acute Pain
  • Lupus and other autoimmune diseases
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Neuropathy

What’s the best Kratom for Pain Relief and Anxiety?

With there being three main colors for kratom strains, this being red, green, and white. From all the studies and reviews we’ve come to the conclusion a red vein kratom strain or blend is the way to go for pain relief using kratom. In that case, our list will consist of red vein kratom powders.

1. Red Sumatra Kratom Blend

One of the strongest blends of kratom for pain, is by far the Red Sumatra Kratom strain, this blend comes from the Island of Sumatra in Indonesia.

Aside from the extreme amount of pain relief this blend provides, it’s also known to calm your nerves, lower blood pressure, and help relieve stress. This is extremely important for people looking to help with anxiety.

We recommend taking a lower dosage than normal when it comes to this kratom strain, as it’s an extremely powerful analgesic. It can sometimes cause drowsiness if you overdo it!

2. Red Dragon Kratom Powder

Red Dragon Kratom is a newer blend of kratom powders, consisting of a few popular red strains. It starts off with a small energizing buzz, and light pain relief, but quickly ramps up into a strong pain reliever that can also cause sedation. This blend is perfect for a sleep time aid.

3. Red Bali Kratom Blend

Our third strongest blend of kratom for pain, is definitely the Red Bali Kratom, this is following the same route as the Red Sumatra, since it’s a red blend of kratom. That means, for most people this blend will help with pain relief, relaxation, anxiety relief, and at higher doses it may cause sedation.

While not as strong as Red Sumatra when it comes to the sedation, we recommend only high doses for those with a high tolerance. This blend is perfect for daily use at low doses, and does wonders at night time to get red of all your pain without knocking you out entirely.

4. Red Maeng Da Kratom Blend

Maeng Da kratom is a staple for the quality of kratom. It’s translation actually stands for “Pimp grade.” However funny it sounds, this just means it’s an extremely high standard and only the best kratom leaves get picked out during the kratom picking process.

Red Maeng Da Kratom is prized for it’s extreme mood enhancing effects while being a nice pain killer to boot. It’s very effective as an anti-depressant, as the euphoria and boosted motivation it gives off is a major help.

5. GLA Gold Kratom Blend

We have our own blend of red kratom strains called “GLA Gold”. It’s been made to keep pain and depression in mind. The sedation factor is a little less when it comes to this blend, but a perfect contender to consider if you’re dealing with a lot of pain. GLA Gold has also been known to stimulate your appetite, making it a great thing to take if you need help eating.

6. Green Bali Kratom Blend

Green Bali, while not being as sedating or as much as an analgesic as our red blends, can still hold it’s ground.

If you’re looking to keep your pain down to the minimum, while still being the life of the party, maintaining your energy and focus, this is the kratom blend for you! Green Bali does have relaxation effects, but that’s only to keep down anxiety and restlessness. With pain and stress relief in the back end, while keeping the user awake, this makes it a highly sought-after strain in the kratom family.

How much Kratom Powder do I take for pain?

When it comes to kratom, the effects are dose dependent. Overall, in low doses it stimulates while in higher doses it comes to sedation. Since people always have different tolerance levels, along with age, and weight coming into the mixture, identifying your ideal dosage gives you a better chance of getting the relief you need.

While we have a dosage guide on all the kratom pages, here’s a quick guide on the amount you should be taking.

  • Less than 2 grams – Mild, yet noticeable stimulation and mood enhancing effects. Good for beginners or those with a low tolerance for Kratom and experiencing only subtle pain symptoms.
  • 2 – 4 grams – Moderate dose that delivers a balance of pain relief, stimulation, euphoria, and sedation. Most users find this range sufficient for treating a wide range of pain related symptoms.
  • 5 – 9 grams – Extremely strong dose producing substantial sedating and euphoric effects. May be used to treat severe chronic pain.
  • 10+ Grams – This should only be taken by people with extremely high tolerances, and is never recommended for a new user.

*Keep in mind, this chart is NOT for the Red Sumatra, we have a different dosage chart for the strength of that kratom.

How do I improve my Kratom Experience?

  • Take it on an empty stomach when possible for heightened and more potent effects. If this is not possible you may also use an acidic fruit like grapefruit juice to hasten the effects.
  • Rotate through the recommended strains to avoid developing dependence or building tolerance to any particular strain.
  • When experimenting to find your optimal dose, always start small (less than 2 grams).
  • Buy your products from a certified vendor to avoid consuming sub standard Kratom which may contain contaminants that cause harmful side effects.
